neo pol

“As online reviews and ratings systems have become a Western staple of determining the worthiness of a person, group or corporation,  the internet presently is a primary source of determining the quality of an entity.”-Cory Morningstar

In the late-early Aughties, along with a radical, technology-induced shift in interpersonal communications (ie, the convulsive elision of the boundary between the Public and the Personal), there came, with little fanfare, the instant ubiquity of Neo-Politics.

Neo-Politics, like the Internet itself, has so changed our lives that we take it for granted. We sort of assume that teenagers whom we’d never even heard of,  until their global fame,  have always been a driving factor in the tone and language of our Now. But they haven’t. Famous teens used to be a rare cultural sideshow we were utterly at liberty to ignore. When I was 13, in 1972, the Billboard Top 100 (dominated by acts in their 20s, 30s and 40s) had only two teens on it, Michael Jackson and Donny Osmond, and I rarely thought about either, obsessed as I was with The Beatles, who were not teens and who were rarely seen on Television. Nowadays (he said, cantankerously),  Famous Teens are Everything. Which is only an exaggeration if you are outside of Everything (like I am): Neo-Politics are where massive fame and the emotions of the (not very old) Masses interact to make things… usually rather creepy things… happen on a very large scale. While no one seems to notice.

In 1957, 30-year-old Bill Mitchell had a Top Ten hit on the billboard charts called “Singing the Blues,” and eventually sold a total of 44 million records (and six million-selling singles) during his career… but he was never as famous as, say, Kylie Jenner, who has 140 million Instagram followers who look at pictures and clips of KJ, and think about her, all day, every day. When Bill Mitchell was at the height of his fame (he was a TV star, too), there was no technology in place to help him become an integral component of his fans’ psychology, influencing them in bed, in the bath, at work, at dinner, on vacation, before and after sex. As famous as Bill Mitchell must have been in the year I was born (1959), I doubt that he ever could have been described as being politically powerful.

For most of my life, a “politician” was a man in a suit who put on a shit-eating grin a few weeks before an election, and his vaguely-defined job was to know pertinent facts and figures while nurturing an ongoing sense of the wants and the needs of his “constituency” (the people who voted him into office). Bearing in mind  his knowledge of those wants and needs,  the politician’s job was to pursue certain policies or vote in, or out, legislation that did or didn’t reflect those wants and needs and/or to influence those with the power to do so. This general definition applied equally to city council members, mayors, governors, congresspeople, presidents… as I understood it all at the age of 13. The image I had was of the slow and steady progress of a massive pyramid carried on the feet of millions of voters, moving painstakingly this way and that way as determined by consensus.

By the time I hit college, however, it began to dawn on me that politics, and political “progress,” was not even a matter of two steps forward and one step back but a sensation close to the sensation one pays for at the gate to the bumper cars ride at a state fair. Not just the fact of the random collisions and no net progress but also (nay, especially) the wholly inoperable steering wheel in the bumper car. This is not the type of thing most 18-year-olds got agitated about in 1977, bobbing around neck-deep (as they were)  in Lake Fuck but the electorate…  bulging as it was, by 1976, with crabby over-thirties and even middle class housewives who’d been radicalized by Watergate… seemed increasingly immune to the con called “Politics”.

The old political model was a Rube Goldberg device of far too many working parts, for one thing, and the turnaround time… measured in 2, 4 and 6 year increments, was Brontosaurus-clunky.  One could say the old model Cajoled Brutally whereas the new model Dictates Gently. Rather than engage in the tedious pantomime of pretending to represent the will of the people, and occasionally needing to sweet-talk said people into blank-checking garishly self-wounding measures, and then needing to help the people forget the laughable extent to which all but the most trivial campaign promises were not just broken but cynically inverted… the golden,  modular,  fast-acting and un-elected personalities of Neo-Politics  are projected 24/7 on Inescapable Screens… not to argue for a cause or POV but in order  to show their followers exactly what to think and how to feel.

These Influencers tell you (no, not you, you’re far too old, I mean kids, the Golden Target Demographic, the voters of 2024 and so forth) what to think and how to feel in such a way that it all lines up perfectly with What Is Going To Be Fucking Done Anyway.

Marketing, Politics, Social Engineering, Pop: it’s all the same: it comes in an expensive and interpenetrating bundle, the bundle is Neo-Politics; no component of this bundle should be downplayed. Neo-Politics is the post-Internet fact that Soc Med is now an incredibly efficient, Full Spectrum Control Mechanism… but only in the hands of its owners.

(Here we see,  below,  the bubble-headed teen whom JLG famously put on the spot,  in 1966’s Masculin Féminin,  for her lack of political awareness, but the joke’s on us, the film’s future: she’s a giantess of concentration and reflection by current standards!)

TFIC can now, for the first time in history, with the saturation capabilities of Soc Med, make any song a hit, any catch-phrase or attitude or sexual preference a fad, any extreme POV into common sense, any issue a global cause, any phony narrative a tear-jerker, any policy acceptable to the desired target demo. Emotional Identification + Uninterrupted Exposure = Total Control. TFIC cleverly support the magical, old school myth that Fame is a lottery, a divine intervention that no one can hope to plan for. It’s not. Vetted Kids are now routinely appointed to Fame.

Take, for example,  the trivial  “Lil Nas X,” who had a crappy “song” no better than a million other crappy songs (and palpably worse than ten million) and who had no particular talent, unremarkable looks, nothing special.  But he had/has extreme youth and a sufficiently shameless fame-hunger, one assumes, that he can be counted on to play along, however he was, and by whomever he was,  groomed and prepped.

[sidebar: Can anyone seriously doubt that BHO was also groomed/ prepped for his role? Yes, that’s right, I’ve put BHO on a conceptual plane with “Lil Nas X”. Was BHO’s sudden rise from obscurity to POTUS a fluke or an orchestration? Only the magnitudes of outcome diverge: “Lil Nas X” will only be  relevant as a Neo-Political politician for as long as he’s painfully young; BHO will be useful, as an un-elected, faux-progressive,  Neo-Political force,  for years to come. But the parallels between any such cases of “viral” rise to prominence are worth considering, if only because, of course, the fact remains that under natural circumstances, there will be many who actively seek to block such a rise and such blocking is absurdly easy…  in natural, non-stage-managed,  circumstances.  Just as Watergate pundits remarked that “It’s not the break-in that matters, it’s the cover-up,”  we might remark that “It’s not the sudden popularity that throws up red flags, it’s the mysterious removal of obstacles…” when some unremarkable kid gets enormous name-recognition, overnight, for anything other than wrestling a crocodile or having an ass-rash that looks like Jesus… ]

From absolutely out of nowhere, “Lil Nas X”  had the biggest “song” on the charts, he had celebrity cameos, he had nicely harmless, Media-saturating “controversy,” he appeared in grade-schools “singing” inappropriately sexual lyrics to 8-year-olds who knew the lyrics by heart. An obvious “Industry Plant” (although the term “Industry” or “Media” now subliminally encompass the term “Government” , or vice versa). We can all be sure, from a strictly entrepreneurial standpoint, that there were sexier or younger and better singers, with catchier songs out there, that any Media Giant could easily have gotten behind for a big hit. Why him?

Regarding “Lil Nas X” and his unlikely rise to Fame, I told a talented, intelligent musician friend, who wholeheartedly believes in the Rags to Riches! Pop Lottery narratives that keep the kiddies engaged (it sure isn’t the shitty “music”), “Next he’s going to come out as Gay.” Less than two weeks later that’s exactly what he did. He will, in the future, Tweet about Climate Change or Gun Control and/or LGBTQ Rights in The Middle East and so forth. He is a fledgling politician in the Neo-Political field; his political value will be in direct proportion to the quality and duration of the Inescapable Screen Time he’s deliberately (and probably fleetingly) allotted. Maybe he’ll be caught up in a Mass Shooting to promote Gun Control. He almost seems like a Red Shirt (wink to Star Trek worshipers) among Neo-Politicals.

Everything (everything) runs through Google/ Facebook/ YouTube/ Instagram/ Twitter before it hits Serfy eyeballs and how many of those institutions are owned/ controlled by the same few Hidden Hands? Which is why the antitrust laws were the first to go under Reagan (long before BHO revoked the Magna Carta): antitrust is anti-cartel and cartels are the sacred profit-organs of our Neo-Political Reality. The Hypnocratic Empire of NEONATOLANDIA is a holographic super-cartel of interdependent cartels. Banking Cartels, Energy Cartels, Insurance Cartels, Media Cartels, Farming Cartels, Big Pharma Cartels, Opium Cartels:  Unanimity of Effect requires Uniformity of Intent and Corruption.  Everything is headed in the same direction and narrowing to a single point.

antitrust vs Reagan
from 1984

The days of middle-aged men,  in business suits,  flashing shit-eating grins to deliver a hundred interchangeable speeches in fifty cities while building toward a moment of national attention at the peak of a tedious career arc of decades…  are coming to an end, just as we Boomers/ Late Boomers are. The appointed-to-Fame Neo-Political Politician maintains attention  by appearing in a Blockbuster movie or a Pop Video or an Instagram post or all three; they don’t give speeches, they Tweet. They don’t earn Fame, they merely qualify for it for reasons obscure to us. Maybe it was ever thus. Maybe the Ed Sullivan Show consisted predominantly of endless Sundays of sucky acts. But how many of those sucky acts influenced how kids of the era identified sexually? Or who they Hated? Or what they Feared?

Q: Are all the Neo-Political Politicians aware that they are used to further the pet agendas of the owners of the Media Octopuses who made them famous? Are they “witting”? Are they In On It?

A: Of course not. They are naturally parroting the Hegemony-Confirming Propaganda they were formed by, from the Media sources they trusted as children. It’s an endless cycle, ramping up and accelerating. The System works with perfect elegance. Even the so-called “rebels” are unwittingly playing (and being played by) The Game. It’s not their opinions or worldviews which are artificial, it’s their Fame. Which may well be another reason the Old Model of Politics is fading: those guys in suits with Shit-Eating Grins were too often just obviously cynical, opportunistic liars and this probably hindered their (ahem) penetration. Neo-Political Politicians really mean it. As clueless/ under-informed/ irrational as they often are, their sincerity is Emotionally Manipulative Gold.

So of course the Soros and Kissinger and Bezos types like using them (ambiguity intentional).

Now, Gen Z icons like Billie Eilish, guns-rights activist Emma Gonzalez and more are proving themselves tech-savvy, politically aware and ready to push the envelope creatively. “Bro, teenagers know more about the country that we’re living in right now than anybody,” she says.

“The world is ending and I honestly don’t understand the law that says you have to be older to vote, because they’re going to die soon and we’ll have to deal with it. That doesn’t make any sense to me,” she says. “But to see young people taking part in peaceful protests and not obeying is beautiful.”-NEO-POLITICAL POLITICIAN BILLIE EILISH

Billie Eilish has very strong opinions; her marketing hook appears to be her glare. But what does Billie Eilish know? Billie Eilish is 18 years old, which means Billie knows Fuckall, although the Iago of Advertizing has been flattering Billie (and all other kiddies, especially girls) that she’s an all-knowing, über-Righteous Super Hero since she picked up her very first Inescapable Screen. Long before they are individually anointed for Fame, Neo-Politicians are groomed, from a distance, en masse, by The System, like everyone else.

Not all Neo-Politicians are teens, though very very few are Straight White Middle Aged Males (Elon Musk was, for a few years, until he was “cancelled”; Bill Gates, was, before he aged too far and wisely withdrew to a place behind the arras; Robert Downey Jr, whom Elon Musk’s media presence, when it was effective,  was modeled on, is probably one of the oldest Neo-Political Politicians out there, having gotten his Fame the hard way, through talent). Thom Yorke (whose moral standing is unimpeachable), with his childish singing voice and sympathy-triggering  lazy eye, is right up there with Robert Downey Jr. as an old but powerful Neo-Political force.

The Nurturing Racism of the Neo-Political landscape contextualizes Black Males (esp. Rappers) as Honorary (Emotional) Teens, so, for example, Kanye West was an effective, Soros-approved Neo-Political Politician, married into the vapidly powerful Kardashian Psyop,  until he went comically off-message and had to be yanked offstage with one hit video (half a billion views as of today) by Childish Gambino, who suddenly seemed to have “Street Cred” after years of being considered as “soft” and “fake” as Drake once was (both having started on Television). But I digress (though the shifting sense of Real vs Fake, and Relevant vs Old News, is the essence of the topic at hand).

Read this Legacy Media Hype, below, and compare it  to the musical qualities of the cited Neo-Political Politician’s excuse for being in the public eye:

When it was announced in November 2018 that Stormzy would be headlining this year’s Glastonbury, the news was met with mixed feelings. On the one hand, people claimed that with only one album out the 25 year old rapper didn’t have enough experience, and just generally objected to a grime artist taking the top Friday night spot on the Pyramid Stage. On the other hand, people that actually knew Stormzy – a brilliant performer, multiple award-winner, and philanthropist to boot – were understandably excited.

Given all that controversy, Stormzy’s set last night (June 28) sent a pretty clear message to his critics. He was ready, it said, and there was no one better for the job.

With characteristic modesty mixed with political anger and cheeky humour, the rapper confronted issues from knife crime to racial equality during his set, also making time to poke fun at Boris Johnson (ofc). But that’s not to say that he didn’t bring the music, as well.

Here’s what you need to know about the historic set.

Does 2+2 still = 5? Or is it 22 these days?

I mean, it can’t really be about the music, eh?

Stormzy, fit as he is,  can’t sing (ouch), the song is a generic throwaway, he can only rap as well as anyone who’s spent a week in jail (or a childhood in the suburbs)… how do you suppose this Neo-Political figure is being instrumentalized, here? Is it a Global thing or merely internecine UK politics?  I haven’t the time to sit through Stormzy’s marble-mouthed interviews, but, given what’s been happening to fatfuck Boris in the Media lately (“Get off me!” Boris’ GF is reported to have screamed), we may have a clue: one Hidden Hand battling another with the hapless Stormzy functioning as a perfect (self-besotted) pawn, uttering his passionately off-key platitudes in his “Banksy-designed” “stab vest” (and who is the “stab vest” meant to indict? Who are the tragic young stabbers/ stabbees of London, then? Answer: The uplifting-Stormzy’s fanbase. Paradox?).

Do we seriously believe that Greta Thunberg is a wholly organic global celebrity?

We love these stories too much to look at them closely.

But here’s one Alternative look at “heroic” little Greta:

[disclaimer: it’s been my longtime experience that info this detailed, rational and apparently damning about The Hidden Machinations will often end up turning into a preposterous and off-putting UFO/ Flat Earth/ Christian/ Anti-Semitic/ White Supremacist rant designed to taint the greater bulk of the useful info it’s attached to; in fact, quite often the most informative material is presented precisely this way,  because it is informative: you learn to ignore the nonsense bits and see through the tactic]

The Manufacturing of Greta Thunberg – for Consent: The Political Economy of the Non-Profit Industrial Complex

In ACT I of this new body of research I opened the dialogue with the observations of artist Hiroyuki Hamada:

“What’s infuriating about manipulations by Non Profit Industrial Complex is that they harvest good will of the people, especially young people. They target those who were not given skills and knowledge to truly think for themselves by institutions which are designed to serve the ruling class. Capitalism operates systematically and structurally like a cage to raise domesticated animals. Those organizations and their projects which operate under false slogans of humanity in order to prop up the hierarchy of money and violence are fast becoming some of the most crucial elements of the invisible cage of corporatism, colonialism and militarism.”

The Manufacturing of Greta Thunberg – for Consent has been written in six acts. [ACT I• ACT II • ACT III • ACT IV • ACT V • ACT VI] [Addenda: I]

In ACT I, I disclosed that Greta Thunberg, the current child prodigy and face of the youth movement to combat climate change, served as special youth advisor and trustee to the burgeoning mainstream tech start-up, “We Don’t Have Time”. I then explored the ambitions behind the tech company We Don’t Have Time.

In ACT II, I illustrated how today’s youth are the sacrificial lambs for the ruling elite. Also in this act I introduced the board members and advisors to “We Don’t Have Time.” I explored the leadership in the nascent We Don’t Have Time and the partnerships between the well established corporate environmental entities: Al Gore’s Climate Reality Project,, Avaaz, Global Utmaning (Global Challenge), the World Bank, and the World Economic Forum (WEF).

In ACT III, I deconstructed how Al Gore and the Planet’s most powerful capitalists are behind today’s manufactured youth movements and why. I explored the We Don’t Have Time/Thunberg connections to Our Revolution, the Sanders Institute, This Is Zero Hour, the Sunrise Movement and the Green New Deal. I also touched upon Thunberg’s famous family. In particular, Thunberg’s celebrity mother, Malena Ernman (WWF Environmental Hero of the Year 2017), and her August 2018 book launch. I then explored the generous media attention afforded to Thunberg in both May and April of 2018 by SvD, one of Sweden’s largest newspapers.

In ACT IV, I examine the current campaign, now unfolding, in “leading the public into emergency mode”. More importantly, I summarize who and what this mode is to serve.

In ACT V, I take a closer look at the Green New Deal. I explore Data for Progress and the targeting of female youth as a key “femographic”. I connect the primary architect and authors of the “Green New Deal” data to the World Resources Institute. From there, I walk you through the interlocking Business & Sustainable Development Commission and the New Climate Economy – a project of the World Resources Institute. I disclose the common thread between these groups and the assignment of money to nature, represented by the Natural Capital Coalition and the non-profit industrial complex as an entity. Finally, I reveal how this has culminated in the implementation of payments for ecosystem services (the financialization and privatization of nature, global in scale) which is “expected to be adopted during the fifteenth meeting in Beijing in 2020.”

In the final act, ACT VI [Crescendo], I wrap up the series by divulging that the very foundations which have financed the climate “movement” over the past decade are the same foundations now partnered with the Climate Finance Partnership looking to unlock 100 trillion dollars from pension funds. I reveal the identities of individuals and groups at the helm of this interlocking matrix, controlling both the medium and the message. I take a step back in time to briefly demonstrate the ten years of strategic social engineering that have brought us to this very precipice. I look at the relationship between WWF, Stockholm Institute and World Resources Institute as key instruments in the creation of the financialization of nature. I also take a look at what the first public campaigns for the financialization of nature (“natural capital”) that are slowly being brought into the public realm by WWF. I reflect upon how mainstream NGOs are attempting to safeguard their influence and further manipulate the populace by going underground through Extinction Rebellion groups being organized in the US and across the world.

Someone commenting on the above-cited site, someone who appears to actually know a few things, an Adult, writing from the exotic space outside the sweet hot box of instant teen emotion, writes:

David Blackall on Apr 29, 2019

For forty-five years I ran a wildlife refuge in a rainforest in Australia. Biology and science were my first teaching subjects and this earned the money to pay for it. I have recently conducted fieldwork with university master of science students in determining biodiversity on my refuge. Carbon Dioxide has nothing to do with the loss of species; rather deforestation, in particular, has everything to do with it. Next is the increasing amount of pollution that poisons soils, water and ocean. The theoretical greenhouse effect does not have an effect on species diversity, they have survived temperature increases and decreases in many times before. This is evidenced in the rocks and ice cores and such temperature changes are driven by the sun. It is criminal to mislead the public on such important matters and those at the front of these campaigns are likely to be making profit or power gains. I have always supported clean energy production, free of the toxic gases like sulfur dioxide and nitrous oxides that come from the burning of coal. It is time to get this straight – carbon dioxide is a trace gas that is not toxic, and it is the least worrisome of the greenhouse gases. Stop land clearing, especially in the Amazon, as large forests are critical for cloud formation throughout the world and we must reduce to nothing the pollution that poisons everything from microbes to man. It is the giant corporations that pollute in vast quantities, as does war.

Which very possibly puts him in conflict with noble Neo-Political Thom Yorke, rendering him, David Blackall, a loser/troll/hater and Enemy of Duh Good. David “Nobody” Blackall has details but Thom conveys an aura. Thom good, Nobody Blackall bad.

Where are the anti-Big Pharma Influencers? Where are the anti-Monsanto Influencers? Where are the anti-War Influencers? Where are the anti-Fracking Influencers? Where are the anti-Police State Influencers? Where are the anti-5G Influencers? Where are the Influencers pressing to have Bush2/ Cheney/ Rumsfeld tried for War Crimes? Where are the Influencers pressing to have Bill Clinton investigated for Rape?

To quote a rather emotional contemporaneous comment aimed at morally unimpeachable Thom and attached to the vid directly above (a comment which very probably has no interest in whatever a David Blackall type has to say on any matter):

Your music is a big part of my life. Your music has comforted me when I’ve had it tough. Your music has made my good experiences even better. I know almost all your songs by heart on three instruments. If I had not been atheist, I am sure that “staircase” would have been the intro music when st. Peter opens the gate doors. In addition to this, you are active in green politics, as I work on every day in the green party in Norway. You make the best music and you are the most moral of them all.

Generation Z or Generation Aut

…will trust/ adore/ emulate and cry for (or “fap” to) their Neo-Political Politicians with the unmitigated religious devotion a JFK or Ronnie Reagan could only have dreamed of; that is to say, in an openly cultish, unselfconscious and shamelessly sexual, instantaneously interconnected way,  requiring very little talent or charisma, from the adored,  as justification. Which is how The Internet hot-wires the instant-gratification-normed attention of Youth: with “empowering”  jolts of sweet and absolutist irrationality.

Critical Thinkers and Dissidents will be marginalized as  Haterz/ Trolls and the persistent “trolls” will be de-platformed; imagine how terrifying de-platforming will be when money is totally Virtual or a Soc Med Credit scheme. You and I, so manifestly not Teens, can only watch as TFIC (many of whom are even older than we are) instrumentalize the naive energy and militant arrogance of clueless Youth to make the sinister dreams of shadowy Henry Kissinger types come terribly true.

Chairman MAO would love it.

This is the point, in such a long and pessimistic essay, in which the writer usually injects a riff of Optimism; a suggested Solution; a lofty Mitigation or Way Out. So here’s mine:

Um… we’ll all be super-old or dead before the worst of this Shit comes true?

I predict:

***The Presidents/ Chancellors/ PMs of the near future will be young, gender-ambiguous and incredibly good-looking.

***Maybe they’ll only serve for a year or six months each.

***Duh Masses will soon be voting with their Nth-iterations of non-transferable i-phone (of whatever brand).

***Maybe a form of micro-voting, involving “likes,” will come into vogue, too. Maybe the micro-vote will become the dominant form.

***Maybe, a bit further off,  The Whitehouse/ Number 10 Downing/ The Bundestag (etc) will become permanent sets for a ’round the clock, all year, year in year out show called GLOBAL TRANSPARENTS  which young citizens of NEONATOLANDIA (if they’ve earned enough Soc Med Credits) can check in on whenever they’re bored or anxious.

***A possible futuristic Reality Show showing the “leaders” of Hypnocratic Neonatolandia dressing/ undressing/ having gender-ambiguous orgies/ eating climate-friendly insect cakes/ scratching perfect asses/ sleeping in chambers walled with Inescapable Screens that never go off/ toenail-clipping/ sitting on the toilet while watching themselves on the Inescapable Screens in Real Time.

***The possibility of such a show serving to popularize the notion of Privacy as Crime.

***The possibility of the word “Conspiracy” no longer existing.

No prediction for the Future is too ridiculous to come true.

(Reddit topic headline)

“Thom Yorke’s ex wife Rachel died like 4 months ago, he still acts so positive and lively on stage, makes me want to learn something from him regarding my crippling depression.”

To which someone responded:

“I think the important thing to realize is he’s acting positive but there is still pain (“I feel this love no more”). It’s okay to be sad, but it’s the way you react to your sadness that determines whether you will come out of an experience depressed or strengthened.” (both comments fairly representative of the tone of the 90-comment thread)

Ah but here is a picture of Thom and the girlfriend (now featured in his latest artsy short film) he was seeing as his wife was dying:

  1. guy mitchell’s hit ‘singing the blues’ was on the radio when i was 9 or 10

when i heard bob dylan’s ‘living the blues’ i immediately recognized it as an echo of guy mitchell’s song

it’s a good song – both times – although it’s cheerfully sung given its melancholy lyrics

    1. MC!

Now that I can dip into the Collective Memory using YouTube, to compare, I see that Bob is either a deft near-plagiarist or his subconscious was. Bits in Bob’s version are shifted around just enough to get away with it; maybe this adenoidal iteration of Bob (Living the Blues came out the same year as Lay Lady Lay, eh?) was the evil one? Maybe that spill on the bike in ’66 did something to him? But, wait: Bob was accused of plagiarizing Blowin’ in the Wind, too, wasn’t he? That’s what marks me as a Born Amateur, I guess. I would never *consider* passing someone else’ work off as mine… just as I never, ever, lied (or got a woman drunk) in order to get “laid”. Point of Honor. What an idiotic choir boy am I.
